Founded in 1896 The Famous Grouse story begins in a small shop in Perthshire, Scotland. Its owner, Matthew Gloag, wanted to create the best quality blended whisky to be shared and savoured all over the world. More than 125 years later, theyre known for doing just that.

The Famous Grouse is proud to call themselves 'The Spirit of Rugby". They've been Rugby fantatics for more than 30 years and over that time they've discovered that rugby, like whisky making, requires skills, craft and an unwavering dedication to be the best of the best.
Overseas they partner with Premiership Rugby, The Biritsh & Irish Lions, SA Rugby and Glasgow Warriors. Here in New Zealand they have proudly partnered with Auckland Rugby.

With a goal like this, naturally most would expect him to create a single malt. But he wanted to make a smooth, perfectly balanced whisky that was greater than the sum of its parts.
Matthew Gloag continued going against the norm by choosing not to name his whisky after himself (a norm at the time). Instead, he named it after Perthshires favourite bird: our now iconic Grouse. He wanted it to be a refreshing reward for acknowledging the achievements of the day. To be enjoyed outdoors with good friends.
